So I’ve searched google and resolved questions and I can’t find the answer I’m looking for.

Long story short: My husband and I inquired about buying a home and the lady (realtor) that did the credit check and such said that we would have better luck buying a home sold by the owner. She said my husbands credit is "fair" and is 10 points below what it needs to be for her to assist us. I already know my credit wont help. It will take another year for it to be where I want it. We don’t have any current "dings" It is all old stuff that we accumulated separately before we were married and we are working on fixing it now.

I found a house that’s a for sale by owner that is in our price range. She told me that I would work with my bank and they would help me take care of all of the financial stuff. The thing is we have already been told by one person that our credit is too low, but to go with a for sale by owner. How is this going to work with bad credit? It doesn’t make sense to me.

She (the realtor from b4) also told us that based on our income and bills that we were approved for 200k. We are actually looking for anything under 140k. The house we are looking into buying now is 130k.

Should we wait another year until our credit is perfect or will we be able to get this home that’s for sale by owner? I don’t have a problem with waiting, but if we can get into a house now I’d rather stop paying my landlord 00 a month for a little ass apartment when I can be in my own home with a pool for around the same amount.
we would also be using the VA loan

Okay, I know that buying a home is a great idea. But I have some questions concerning it. Here is my scenerio: My husband and I live in the Houston, Texas area. Our lease is up in a month and a half. We really want to move at that time into a place that has at least two bedrooms and a garage (apartment or house). We really want to buy a home BUT, at this time we can’t afford the home we want. Our annual income is approximately 50,000.00, and our fixed monthly expenses before rent are approximately 1081.00. I have a lot of bad credit, including outstanding and charged off debt. My husband has fairly good credit, probably in the high 600s.
What I want to know is: Is it even worth trying to get a home? If so should we try to buy new or used? And, if we buy one and we want to sell it in a few years is that really a good idea? Also, we aren’t exactly in the positiong to do major repairs on a house, will that effect us? People keep saying to buy a house, are they right?

We are buying a home that as a hot water heat in the attic. Is that safe. I want to buy the home but was frightened by my sister because she said that the house could catch on fire easily. I thought that if you make sure that it is clean around the area and that if you keep maintance up on the attic then it wouldn’t be a problem. What do you all think? This is an older home…not tooo old.

I am thinking of buying a home by the end of the year. Can someone explain what this 00 First time home buyer tax credit means exactly??

It seems that there are many programs out there for first time home buyers. I’d like to take advantage of whatever is available to us… we are buying a home in Tracy, California (San Joaquin county). We both work full time but only make about k a year combined.

I am in the market for a house. Something not too expensive and preferably rent to own.

I recently came across a house that really is a true 100% fixer upper.
Needs new windows, carpet, plumbing work, paint job, and possibly roofing.

Now my question, is buying a home such as this one (with the potential to be something amazing) really worth the extra out of pocket expense just to make the house livable and then the extra money to make it pretty?

I am considering buying a foreclosed home from a local sheriff’s auction. This would be my first time buying a home. I am wondering if the first time home buyers tax credit would still apply to me even though I am buying a foreclosed home. Thanks for any help!

I bought my 1st home in Feb 08, I know I missed the deadline for the 00 tax credit. Do I qualify for any tax credits at all for buying a home?

I am buying a home in Idaho. It is scheduled to close this month. I know I am eligible for the 00 tax credit. I also know that there are homeowners tax credits out there such as a credit of up to 00 (30%) for making the home more energy efficient such as installing new windows.

Are there any other tax credits that I should be aware of? I am looking at doing a lot of work on the house and
