"These two entities, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not facing any kind of financial crisis," Boehner said. He added, "The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."
I am personally appalled by this blatant ignorance and think he should resign. Does anyone else agree with me?
Republicans, I know…lol. I was trying to get Democrats to ask for the resignation of Barney Frank.
You never hear a PEEP about this man- who was buddies with Obama and Barney Frank. The man destroyed the bank- walks away with 90 Million dollars- and they never say anything about him! Never attack him for destroying the bank! GEE- Thats weird?
Fannie Mae went through a few hundred billions of dollars over the past few years. Where did it go?
Banks? Homeowners? Builders? Credit companies? Barney Frank?
Clinton had 2 employees who earned over 0 MIL at Fannie Mae (Raines and Gorelick).
And, Barney Frank dated a male executive of Fannie Mae.
Is that why Dems aren’t upset over the RECENT bonuses at their large donor firm that taxpayers have given 0 BILLION?
It apparently started in 1977 with President Carter passing the Community Redevelopment Act. Then it continued in the 1990’s under President Clinton.
According to the New York Times, in September 1999, "Fannie Mae, the nation’s biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stockholders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits."
Bush tried to do something major in September 1993 to control the problems with Fannie and Freddie, but Republican Congress stopped it. Thereafter, during his administration, he did not do much after to get this mess under control. He did not as a leader, "pull the bulls by the horns." To add insult to injury, politicans like Barney Frank claimed there were no problems with Fannie and Freddie.
Shouldn’t Bush played a bigger role to stop this mess? What do you think? I am trying to better understand this problem.

Rep. Barney Frank has done oversight for Fannie Mae for nearly 20 years. He took ,000 in campaign cash and his former ‘lover’ was a Fannie Mae executive. Where is the media coverage?
They say that suicide is the sincerest form of self-evaluation.
Maybe its time for some introspection for Barney Frank, and Rahm Emanuel (who was on the board of directors of Freddie Mac).
As the chief financial officer of Freddie Mac he was privileged to see things that no one else would ever see. I believe he saw enough to know that the whole thing is a disaster and that their is bad business being conducted by the likes of Barney Frank who basically screwed us all over the past two and a half years.
I hope he left a note and in fact, sent it to someone you can trust like Fox News.
How did Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and Charles Schumer hold off these attempts by Republicans to put regulations on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Did they simply buy off one or two Republicans on the committees(if so, which Republicans) or did they use their clever fillibuster technique where 41+ Senators can stop an up or down vote from ever taking place?
After so much outrage over the money given to AIG people there seems to be no comment on the 210 million going to Barney Frank’s buddies at failed Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. They do not deserve a dime.
