Any paper return takes 4-12 weeks without any problems or complications. Most amended returns take 8-12 weeks. Depends on when you filed your 1040X, if in April or May, expect the full 12 weeks, or longer.
Put ALL or at least half of the credit as additional principal payment on your home and you will GREATLY reduce the amount of interest you pay over the life of your loan and reduce the repayment period. If you remember from closing, almost all of your monthly payments are going to interest and other things than principal, and you are not growing the equity in your home very quickly.
as long as any other income tax amendment
If you provided all the information required with your Form 1040X Amended Tax Return, then it will take anywhere from 12-14 weeks before you receive a refund in the mail. If IRS is needing more information then you could receive a letter in about 8 weeks from the date you filed the Form 1040X.
I was just wondering the same thing. Where I filed my amendment they said 6-8 weeks and it’ll be 8 weeks on Saturday. I don’t even know where I can look to see if it was accepted.
