I have a stable 30 gallon tank that has been going for a few years now.

In it I have a half a dozen live plants, 7 neon tetras, 3 flame tetras, a molly, two swords, two ADFs, a pleco, a chinese algea eater, a khuli loach, and a gold dojo (weather) loach

But ever summer I seem to have the same problem. Since I don’t have AC, when a heat wave hits, my house gets very hot. The problem is it gets too hot for the tank (mid to upper 80s and sometimes even in the 90s). Then at night it cools down to the mid 70s to low 80s. The extreme heat plus the temperature fluctuations are not good for the tank. (I have my tank heater set to kick in if the temp drops below 70.) I have tried adding ice cubes and cold water, but that only works if I’m home all day and can add them in small doses. Does anyone have any ideas how I can keep my fish safe during the summer and when I’m generally away from home all day?

How do YOU keep your firearms safe from others (children-unotherized users), but able to get to fast in an emergency?

I personaly use 2 guns for home protection, a 12gauge remington 870 express (with 00′ buck) in my room under my matress and boxspring so when im sleeping i can get it as soon as i wake up and during the day i just lock my bedroom door.

The other gun is use is a 40. Smith and wesson and i keep that mounted behind a dresser as soon as you open the front door. (it also has a holster which is very hard to get open if you dont know how) and no one would think to look behind a dresser so i consider that safe.

When my mom moved in with me. I discovered I’m the mom now. So I need a good site to visit where I can get ideas on how to kid/mom proof my home, so she doesn’t go tumbling down the stairs since gates etc are out of the question. So what I need is ideas as well as where to purchase these products since I have my hands full and don’t have a lot of time to spend on the internet searching for those products. And I’m sure I’m not the only person out there that is going through this. Or already went through this so any help with be welcomed.

I have a 3 year old female chihuahua and ever since she was about 6 months old she has had several issues. Such as, eating every inedible things,the worst is that she is miserable and likes none of the 7 people in my home. She will let no one touch her at all without growling and snapping, Nothing bad happened to her and I have no explaination for her behavior. For the past 2 1/2 years she has just mostly stayed in the corner by herself which was fine, whatever made her happy. But my family takes care of mentally disabled people 24/7 in our home and recently a 9 yr old has come to live with us. If she bites him she will most likely have to be "gotten rid of" in a hurry based on NYS standards of safty in our home. I do not want that to happen and want to find a home for her to keep her safe and possibly help her. No idea where to start…

My niece is 13 and she is very pretty and smart. She’s an only child. I don’t want her to get involved with drugs or boys, I want her to enjoy her life and not make the same mistakes I did when I was a teenager. Her parents are very loving and give her a good home yet I know that parents are usually the last ones to know if a kid is messing up. I hid alot from my parents.

Any advice on what I can do to help keep her on the right path?

I’m really not sure what to do to fix this, I’m only able to run my computer in safe mode. Even in safe mode, I occasionally get this error saying "generic host process for win32 has encountered a problem and needs to close". I can’t help but feel that might be causing the blue screen, but well, I dunno. I’ve already tried CHKDSK scans, and they haven’t fixed the blue screen problem. How would I fix this?

My operating system is windows XP home SP2.

Oh, one last thing: It only started happening after there was a power outage while my computer was turned on.

i’m 29 yrs old married for 5 yrs. my husband left on a business trip for 3 months. its only been 3 days but all the men in our neighborhood (and even our watch-man) who know my husband has left, have started hitting on me i feel so angry, sad, embarrassed and i love my husband so much. i’m completely faithful to him. has any other woman experienced anything like this. this is the first time i’m living alone at home without a man. i have no family here, no relatives either. i’m so scared all night that i stay awake till the sun comes up. i feel very insecure now and i use to think i’m a strong woman you know. not any more. what can i do to feel more secure? how can i keep a low profile (i’m considered pretty and thats also a problem) how should i deal with men who hit on me? please help!
i’m really scared of dogs so i can’t adopt a dog either. any other suggestions plz

I may need quick access to the weapon, on the other hand, I want it secure from prying eyes and make it virtually impossible to steal. Is there a "magic" lock or safe, or do I need a multi-layered approach to security? Thanks.

All of the houses in the burbs seem reasonable in price but the taxes are crazy. It looks like home are very inexpensive in Rochester but I don’t know if its safe to live in Rochester. I work a ton of hours and my wife is pregnant with our 2nd child so she will be home alone alot. Is there an area close to but not in Rochester where the taxes are more reasonable. If not how is it living in the city.

Well, I live in an area where coyotes live and i had 2 dogs recently but they were bigger dogs. we would live them outside on there leashes so they could run around and everything when we weren’t home during the day and they were fine…but i had to give them away for personal reasons..but now i was able to get another dog for my bday. I got a little pomeranian. But now i am going to start school, both my parents work, and so no one is home between 7:30 am and 3:00 to take care of her. So i am trying to figure out where to keep her. She is only a puppy, so she isn’t potty trained, so i cant keep her inside running free. but i cant keep her locked up in her crate all day, cuz that’s just not right.. but i am thinking of putting her outside in a pen where she can go to the bathroom and run around. But i am worried about the coyotes. I was thinking of getting a pen thing with a roof on it so they cant jump in it, but do u think that would be safe? Do you think she would be ok if a coyote came around? What do you think?

gezz guys!! Im not dumb! Of course its not the best idea but i want her to be used to going potty outside where she is supppsed to go. I want the best for my dog. In order to keep them safe and new, all of my academic degrees and records are laminated. Last days, some of those degrees needed attestation, not on photocopies, but on the original ones. Here is no one which I could find to do it. Everyone is scared of tearing them in this effort. So, is there any safe way to do it?

i was just curious cuz my husband always pushes me to be prepared if someone breaks into our home while im here with the kids. we have a few guns in our home. and he keeps asking me to go practice shooting with him at the gun range since i never shot a gun before. but im soo scared too shoot a gun. i was wondering does anyone have a plan just in case someone breaks into ur home? and has anyone broke into ur home while u were there? i guess my husband wants to keep us safe since his brother got murdered and since there are so many homes being broken into on our block. when i think i hear a noise in the house i just freeze up. i want to learn how to protect my family. without getting so scared. plus its scary cuz my parents always open the door to anyone they open the door and just to tell them no. im afraid one day someone is just going to push their way in.

I have a miniature Dachshund that I’ve had for 15yrs and love to death. We got her when I was 10 yrs old and able to give her lots and lots of attention. (I am definitely on board with the fact that you should not get a dog unless you can give it attention). However, now I’m 25 and I work during the day and can’t even dream of giving her away after all these years. She was staying at home with my mother (who works nights) until yesterday when she got out of the backyard and got lost. Thank Goodness a nice couple found her and kept her safe. Until I’m able to repair the fence at my mother’s house so she won’t get out again, I’ll be keeping her with me at my apt. With the limited space, how can I keep her from being lonely while I’m at work from 8-5:30. She’s really old, so I don’t know if she’d be interested in playing with toys. I’ve also found that she’s bothered by younger dogs. Sorry so long.

I realized that my backyard Isn’t a safe place to keep my dog because I have a swimming pool. My dad was supposed to get a pool cover but now he’s not. I would teach my dog how to safely exit the pool but my father would rather do a bad job cleaning the pool than higher someone to do a good job to clean it (he’s EXTREMELY CHEAP). I tried to find someone to clean it but it would have been dollars an hour. Ive tried looking for a kennel but I believe that wouldn’t be safe also because I would need to find someway to bolt the kennel to ground because our backyard is covered in concrete. I just thought about buying a zip line, which I believe are used in the mid-west where fences are prohibited but we don’t have a tree in the backyard and I don’t know how safe it would be to attach it to anything else. I decided rather to find a no-kill shelter, but I was looking on Peta website and I came across this horrible story where Peta basically supports shelter that euthanize animals and how animals are no better of at no-kill shelters. But I don’t want to take the dog to a shelter at a time when shelters are overly packed with dogs and people cant afford to pay for adoption fees and I don’t believe many people go looking for dogs at shelters.
So I thought about putting the dog on craigslist with a re-homing fee, but I don’t want just any crazy person responding to the add, so I thought maybe a re-homing fee of dollars I think It would be better to go higher but the big problem is is that I got the dog from a woman who I think I shouldn’t have trusted because she told me the dog was a rescue dog but she didn’t have proof of the dogs first vaccinations. She only had handwritten his two vaccinations and then she attached a sticker of the vaccination she gave the dog herself. Not until later did I think the shelter should have given the dog all of it shots! I looked at the dog petted him asked if he had any health issues she said no and I took the dog. But after really examining the dog I realize he’s too thin. So basically I don’t even know how anyone would be willing to adopt a skinny unfixed puppy without proof of vaccinations for or more. The humane society told me I could get the dog vaccinated again which im willing to do but those dudes or like animal freaks that will not neuter a 4 month old puppy. I know this becuz i took my mom 9 month old beagle there and they told me to wait tell he is older and his baby teeth fell out which never did happen so they finally nurtured the dog. I would put the dog in a crate but not 4 hours only for 2 hours cause he doesn’t like the crate and plus i would like him to be able to run around and play outside when Im gone or working. So would you, a sane individual, be willing to buy this puppy on craigslist for 60 bucks if I do get the dog vaccinated again or is it safer to maybe post the dog up for adoption at a vet or the human society?

melissa what are you talking about? Walking the dog isnt a problem since I do it everyday. And those individuals who dont have yards probably dont live in a 5 bedroom house with other open rooms where the dog could also get into trouble when the owners are gone.

Two months ago, I adopted a female feral cat from my job. She lives with my boyfriend and I in a room we rent. She doesn’t have a ton of space and is allowed to walk into the hallway and kitchen, because out roommates don’t mind us having the cat. I have just read that it is better to keep the new cat in a separate room, but we don’t exactly have that option. Which brings me to my question.

There is a new, male cat at my job now, and he looks about the same age as my cat (7 months old), and I am thinking he may be from the same abandoned litter as my cat. I am thinking of bringing him home too, because it is very cold and snowy here in NY and I would like him to have a safe and warm home, and my cat is usually alone during the day, so I figure she could use a friend.

My cat is spayed, and I was wondering if it would be a problem if I brought this new cat home. The male is very friendly with humans and loves to be petted and played with. It took my cat a while to adjust because she was very afraid of people, but now is very sweet and loving with my boyfriend and I. What should I do? I don’t want this cat to die out in the street or freeze in my job at night. Thanks!

She despises them. Hates, hates, hates them. The only reason I have them is because I agreed to do everything with my own money and keep them in my room. When she’s at work [she works night shift as a nurse and doesn't get home until 11 or later] I let them play around the house in safe areas. I was watching a movie in the livingroom and lost track of the time with them on the couch with me. At around midnight she came home and was not amused, making me bring them into my room threatening to get rid of them. I’ve tried showing her pictures of rats and I’ve tried getting her to look at my rats when they’re in the cage so they won’t investigate her, but her comments are always on how disgusting they are.

Is there any way I can get her to at least tolerate them?

I tried checking for an expiration date on my at-home hair dye, but as far as I can see I can’t find one. Does anybody know where it’s located? If not, does anybody know how long I can keep an at-home hair dye unused before it expires? I did open the box, if that makes a difference, but all the bottles were left alone.
